Why "respirare"?

Respirare is Latin for

to breathe

to gain respite

to exhale

All health begins with breathing - so we can focus on the world around us and not be overwhelmed by stress and anxiety.

Meet Dr. K(ruczek)
Owner & Founder of Respirare Counseling

Licensed Health Service Provider in Psychology

I'm a licensed psychologist who is a farm girl at heart. I grew up in rural east central Indiana and have lived and worked in our community most of my life. I have over thirty years experience providing services for children, teens and families; training the next generation of counselors and psychologists; and conducting research on best practices in counseling and therapy. In particular, my work has focused on healing in the face of adversity.

My mission with Respirare Counseling is to support children, teens and their families by providing counseling services in a way that promotes optimal health and development while respecting and valuing diversity.

My vision for Respirare Counseling is to create a safe, supportive, and healing environment that allows people to develop habits and coping skills that lead to a life that is simply abundant.

Adversity and challenges are part of our life experience. The key is to build a foundation that fosters healthy coping. It’s never too late to build that foundation. It’s just easier to do when we’re children because the child brain has greater neuroplasticity. Which is a fancy way of saying that children’s brains are more flexible, so structural and functional changes are easier to make. Research shows that counseling and therapy helps make those changes - at all ages. At Respirare Counseling we provide traditional therapy in conjunction with what are called experiential therapies that use play, art, music, nature and animal interactions to promote healthy coping and development. Our clinic is located on a developing care farm in Northwest Delaware County (Indiana).
